CDRLabs.com has
wrapped up their review of Plextor's latest SCSI recorder, the
PX-W4012S. When we reviewed the drive we were very
pleased with it. Here's part of what CDRLabs.com had to say about the drive:
For the most part, the PX-W4012TS's performance was on par with
its ATAPI and USB counterparts. While the drive's seek times were a little
on the high side, it had some very good transfer speeds. The PX-W4012TS
had no problems reading all types of media at 40x, including CD-RW discs.
Like Plextor's other drives, the PX-W4012TS really excels when doing DAE.
In our tests, it was able to reach speeds in excess of 40x and handled
scratched and dirty media relatively well.
With 48x
and 52x writing and 24x rewriting speeds becoming the norm, it should be
obvious that the PX-W4012TS isn't the fastest writer available. The drive
turned in some decent times in our writing tests, but it wasn't as fast as
some of the other 40x writers we've tested. The PX-W4012TS also had some
fairly high media requirements. Other than Plextor's own media, there were
only a few types that were able to write at 40x. Fortunately, the drive's
writing quality is pretty good and with the ability to disable PoweRec,
you can write to your media at whatever speed you
want. |

the drive then you can of course check out our own review of the
