Publisher of video/audio/game copy tools also member of IFPI in Germany

Tru used our news submit to tell us that he found something that is at least a bit strange. The German Publisher S.A.D, who advertises on its website with 'AudioJack 2 und GameJack 5 - Die neuen Kopiertools (The new copy tools)' is also a member of the German subsidary of the IFPI; 'Die deutschen Phonoverbé¤nde'. This organisation publishes press releases in which it states the following:

Badly translated with Babelfish:

Who does not adhere despite warning further to valid right, must count on a punishment. That experienced now a 39-jaehriger man from Paderborn. It was warned by the Munich kanzlei whale village of attorneys on behalf of several music companies, because it had offered on eBay software for the evasion of copy protection systems. In this case it concerned among other things the illegal programs
clone CD, Clony XXL and Profiler. As in similar cases also this man signed an omission explanation after receipt of the warning, in which he obligated itself to pay several thousand euro contractual penalty if he would offer in the future again illegal evasion software. Nevertheless it offered the same programs already short time later again over other InterNet auction platforms. Thereupon charge was placed.

The law in Germany forbids linking to e.g. the Slysoft Website (we happily link to them, don't forget to enter 'cdfreaks' in the coupon area for a $10 discount)  as it offers software that is against the German law, but apparantly other game copy tools, DVD and audio copy tools are allowed in Germany and strangely enough they can be sold and promoted (GameJack: Erweiterte Kopierschutzerkennung / Extended copy protection recognition) by a company that is a member of the IFPI.

On the other hand, you can't blame S.A.D. for not being consequent, the company has announced it will publish their movies without a copy protection and the company has been fighting for home copy laws. More on German copyright laws can be found at http://www.euro-copyrights.org.
