Do you want to add a solid state HDD to your notebook? There are already some models available, but their main issue is the very high price. According to a news published at Daily Tech, it is possible to implement an alternative solution for a more affordable price.
For example, it is available a Compact Flash to IDE adapter by Addonics, that allows to replace the notebook's HDD with a low power and shock resistant CF cards. Once installed, the CF appears as an ordinary hard drive to any OS and can be configured as a boot device. The Dual CF-IDE Hard Drive Adapter contains a second CF slot for the slave position of the IDE channel, allowing increased storage capacity with the same low power consumption and solid state benefits of the CF card.
Another system created by Century allows to use Secure Digital cards, but even if it can hosts up to 4 SD cards, and then can offer a higher capacity, it costs a lot more than the CF-IDE adapter (and actually it can costs more than the notebook itself).
Even if interesting, these solutions are not worth the costs in my opinion: with a lower price it is possible to buy a 100 GB HDD, and until prices and speed of these devices will not improve, they will remain only a gadget.
