Cdrlabs.com made a review of the latest Teac CD-Recorder. This one features 16 speed writing, 10 speed rewriting and comes with Burnproof technology.
Their conclusion:
TEAC has a winner here with the CD-W516EB. It shares many of the same characteristics as their 12x drives, like excellent transfer rates and some of the lowest seek times in the industry. While it's DAE speeds are not as fast as other drives, the drive does use P-CAV technology to give it an advantage over other writers that are also rated at 32x. TEAC is not only shooting for high speeds with this drive, but also data integrity. With it's triple checked OPC you can be assured that the CD you are writing to will be readable almost anywhere. There is a trade off, though, for this increased data integrity. This trade off is time. The drive does take a little longer than others to write a session because it is doing these checks. The drive also has the smallest available buffer of any drive available right now. |
After being one of the best manufactures of CD-R drivers during the early 'ages' of cd-recording Teac seems to back in business with this drive!
