Ritek to show 8x DVD+RW media certified by Philips at CeBIT

Ritek
is the first manufacturer in Taiwan to
receive a certification by Philips for its 8x DVD+RW media according to the
company. Ritek will display the 8x DVD+RW discs as well as various other
recordable media products at the upcoming CeBIT show:

RITEK, the global
leading CD and DVD manufacturer, will introduce its latest products in the
CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany. With the prominent
image of its complete series of optical storage media and high quality,
the new model DVD+RW 8X was the first product of the world certified
recently by Philips (Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands, NYSE:
PHG, AEX: PHI). The technology for rewritable disc is tremendously
sophisticated than write-once format product, so that it has been very
difficult to get certified. Following the technology developer Philips,
RITEK now has become the first certified manufacturer of the world.

Besides
its well-established contract manufacturing business, RITEK also enjoyed a
great success of its own brand products. In this coming CeBIT Show, RITEK
will present FLASH storage media and consumer electronics products of its
own brand: RIDATA and TRAXDATA Series, including MP3, DataPlay
Photocopier, DataPlay miniWriter, and high capacity memory cards with
unique looks such as MMCmobile and MMCplus. The DVD products RITEK plans
to show include: 15GB Blue Laser Disc HD DVD-R, 20GB HD DVD-RW, and
High-Speed Recording DVD Series, suchs as 16X DVD+R/16X DVD-R, 4X DVD+R
DL, 5X DVD-RAM, 6X DVD-RW, Photo Printable Discs, and 8X DVD+RW which is
so far the only product of the world certified by
Philips.

Ritek
media with the MID code RITEK-008 and Philips media with MID code PHILIPS-RW8
are indeed the only fully certified 8x DVD+RW discs listed at Philips
Licensing's website here. Ricoh's 8x DVD+RW media with MID code RICOHJPN-W21 is
currently listed as 'provisional approved".
