Samsung introduces new DVD-RAM recorder for Korean market

More hardware news today as RexHunt lets us know that Samsung has introduced a new DVD-RAM recorder for the Korean market. The recorder, the DVD-R5000, also supports the DVD-RW and DVD+RW formats:

The biggest advantage the DVD RAM format over other formats, such as DVD+RW, DVD-RW etc., is the fast access to the recorded data. Taking advantage of the fast performance, DVD-R5000 features simultaneous recording and playback, which let the users 'rewind' the TV program that they are watching.

DVD-R5000 is also a reliable and economical DVD recorder, because a DVD RAM disk can be written for more than 100,000 times, while -RW and +RW disks can only handle 1,000 write cycles.

In addition to recording from traditional sources, DVD-R5000 can also record directly from a digital camcorder using the built in IEEE1394 port.

Other features include the PiP (picture-in-picture) function, and a slim design at79mm.

The DVD-R5000 is available in Korea now with estimated street price of 1400,000 Korean Won.
