Samsung today announced a security solution for its smart TVs that should protect the privacy of its users. The new solution is called GAIA and protects user data in three ways. The first way is Secure Zone, a virtual barrier that creates a secure space and protects the core service operations
A part of Secure Zone is a virtual keyboard that secures passwords, credit card data and other personal information that users enter on their smart TV.
The second way GAIA protects the user is that it encrypts important data that is transmitted between the TV and Samsung's servers. The last and the third way is an anti-malware system that detects and blocks unauthorized software.
Also the combination between the operating system and hardware should provide protection. By dividing the Tizen OS into two parts including the main and the security space, data for each space is secured separately. Also, public key used for verifying personal information is included in the hardware chip.
