Since yesterday we
can find a new review over at CDRLabs.com. This time they've taken a look at the Samung SM-352B combo drive.
The combo drive supports high read and write speeds of 52x while re-writing can
be done at 24x. Reading of DVD media is of course also possible and can be done
at a maximum speed of 16x:
 Samsung has shown us again why they are considered by
many to be one of the industry's top combo drive manufacturers. While the
SM-352B is a little rough around the edges in some areas, its 52x reading
and writing speeds gave it the performance boost required to close the gap
between combo and CD-RW drives.
Thanks to its 52x writing speeds, the SM-352B did very
well in our writing tests. So well in fact, that its writing times came
within seconds of some of the fastest 52x writers we've tested.
Unfortunately, this speed doesn't come without a price. Media that worked
fine at 52x with other drives would not always write at this speed with
the SM-352B. With its quick speeds and great writing quality, this was the
one thing that prevented us from giving Samsung's new combo drive top
marks in our writing tests. |
