Our friends from CDRLabs have taken a look at the new SW-240B CD-RW drive from Samsung. This 40 speed writer now has 12 speed rewriting and has JustLink and JustSpeed technologies. A part of their conclusion:
 As a reader, the SW-240B had no problems reading pressed and CD-R discs at 40x. The drive's seek times were very good too, but I was a little disappointed to see that the drive was able to read CD-RW discs at only 32x. The SW-240B's DAE speeds were not quite as fast as some of the other drives we've tested. Where most 40x writers have DAE speeds of 40x or higher, Samsung's new writer was limited to only 32x. When it came to writing CD's, the SW-240B's slower average writing speed kept it from being one of the fastest 40x writers we've tested. Also keep in mind that Samsung's 40x writer has some fairly high media requirements. Media that worked fine at 40x with other drives would not write at that speed with the SW-240B. |
