Samsung's hybrid Blu-ray & HD DVD player, the BDP-UP5000, has already begun shipping to retail stores, going by what a spokesman said to Dealerscope in this report. Up until now, there have been rumours of the player being delayed until January 15th as a result of Amazon showing this as its release date and that it would be priced at $999.
This player is on track to hit the market around mid to late December with a retail of $799. Going by HighDefDigest, the player features support for BD-Java and HDi for Blu-ray and HD DVD discs respectively and Internet-enabled support for both formats via its network connection.
