Sherwood recently announced it is shipping its R-904N NetBoxx Internet receiver in small quantities, with a mass rollout expected before the end of the month.
The NetBoxx is a mix between an Internet media streamer and a midrange AV receiver that can connect to video game consoles, DVD and Blu-ray players, with support to watch YouTube videos and other online content.
Sherwood said the NetBoxx has the ability to use content from YouTube, Shoutcast, Cinema Now, and Internet-based TV channels. Users can also visit sites such as Hulu, CBS, ESPN, Amazon Video On Demand, and Netflix. The unit can show photos, play audio files, and video from the Internet or an external device.

The device supports up to 7.1 channel audio, three HDMI 1.3 inputs, video support up to 720p, and ships with an 802.11g wireless adapter. The NetBoxx also has two USB ports so owners can plug in an external HDD for additional viewing content.
I think the NetBoxx looks like an interesting product, even though I already have enough devices plugged into my TV in the living room. People without "connected" TVs should find the YouTube and other online support very helpful, as it's nice to be able to watch online content in the living room. I like how it has built-in Wi-Fi, so an Ethernet cable doesn't have to be added to the disaster I call my entertainment system.
Is this the type of product you're interested in using in your living room?
The Sherwood R-904N NetBoxx will be available later this month with an MSRP of $650.
