More news from Slysoft as the company has released a beta version of AnyDVD HD, their software that allows you to make backup of HD-DVD and Blu-ray (the High Definition (HD) formats) discs. The company already won a few battles in their war against the protection of these formats. Now it seems to have won the last one and defeated the Blu-ray BD+ protection.
The BD+ protection is a smallvirtual machine that is embedded in Blu-ray players and can help protecting the device. For example it checks if someone has e.g been trying to hack it. Then code on Blu-ray discs can be released in the BD+ format which can patch hacked devices.
BD+ has also access to the audio and video stream and can therefore be used to unscramble content thus without BD+ hacked, the content isn't properly viewable, but now Slysoft seems to have managed to hack this last resort.
And in case the Blu-ray people are not annoyed enough with Slysoft, they added some release notes:
Gotta love them...
