And another review from our friends over at CDRLabs.com. This time the latest Sony writer has been reviewed. A drive with a maximum write speed of 40x (P-CAV), re-write speed of 12x max and a maximum read speed of 48x:

Part of the Conlusion:
While Sony's 40x writer is a late arrival here at the 'Labs, its performance and features really impressed me. In this review we put Sony's writer up against three of the top 40x writers currently available and it was able to hold its own without even breaking a sweat. Thanks to its P-CAV writing technology, Sony's new drive was more than 20 seconds faster than the 40x writers from Lite-On and TEAC. And while the Sony was a couple of seconds slower than our current champion, the LG GCE-8400B, it did have the advantage of being able to write at 40x with a wide variety of media. The LG wasn't nearly this flexible.
In true Sony style, the CRX195 also has its share of features. Along with the Turbo Boost function and P-CAV writing, the drive offers a good number of writing speeds between 40x and 4x. With all of these speeds, you should not have any problems picking a speed that works well with your media. To prevent coasters, the CRX195 has a pretty small 1984KB buffer. However, this is backed up by Sony's buffer underrun protection. Last but not least, the CRX195 includes a great software package including B's Recorder Gold.
The Sony CRX195A1 gets an overall score of 8. Interested in reading the complete review? You can check it our over at CDRLabs.com.
