Shoot, I didn't realise how focused moms are when it comes to taking and preserving family photos! But, once I thought about it a bit, in my world, this does seem to be the case. Meanwhile, it seems like dad is just a bit of a deadbeat when it comes to capturing those family "Kodak moments". According to these findings, mom's are also constantly on the lookout for new cutting edge technology to help them safegard the family pictorial history. Sony makes a clever tie-in to the study with AccuCORE, which is a special media technology developed to withstand temperature changes, scratching, resists stains and is suitable for long-term storage. Indeed, if the claims are true, it would be great optical media for archival storage of treasured digital photos.
| According to a recent study conducted on behalf of Sony Electronics by The Parenting Group's Mom Connection® network, keeping family pictures and videos safe is a crucial concern to moms. Asked what's the one thing that they would grab before heading out the door if they had to leave the house and all other belongings behind, a whopping 76 percent of the moms surveyed said they would take family photos and videos ahead of purses, jewelry and other valuables -- even heirlooms. Underlining the importance that moms place on preserving family memories, Sony's Mom Connection® study went on to find that mothers serve as the primary family photographer/videographer and archivist, outnumbering fathers by 4 to 1. And moms are eager to find new ways to store and protect their photo and video archives. In fact, 70 percent of those surveyed said they were likely to invest time to learn about a new technology that would help safeguard against the loss of family photos and videos.
"Capturing memories with pictures and video is of Sony's series of surveys was conducted through the Mom Connection® network, a nationally representative online panel of 8,000 moms developed for the exclusive use of The Parenting Group and its partners. |
This is most interesting that women are taking the responsibility of capturing and preserving the family history in photos. In my family, soon after any gathering, the CD's and emails loaded with digital photos taken at the event (by women) commence trading back and forth between the ladies of the clan. I only wish MomConnection would have asked fathers in the study, what they would grab if the house was on fire. I have no idea what I would grab (television remote) and my mind draws a blank! This is really embarrassing and I would just hope the survey was multiple choice.
All kidding aside, this really opened my eyes once I thought about it. I just thought my wife was the photographer because she was good at it, but it may be a gender thing as well! Do you notice this same trend in your family?
