Sony Japan releases new firmware for DRU(X)-500A(U) drives

straycat and mogga both used our news submit to tell us that Sony Japan has released a new firmware update for their DRU-500A(X) and DRX-500UL(X) DVD-recorders. Unfortunately, since the new firmware is only available on the Japanese Sony website, the changelog is rather unclear (translated with Babel Fish):

DRU-500CA/500AX and DRX-500UL/500ULX firmware 2.0f

Improvement of entry efficiency
Improvement of reading efficiency
The media whose quality is bad (the media which has mass eccentricity or the curvature) quiet sound characteristic improvement
The music disk which is drawn up with this drive (the CD Audio format) playback compatibility improvement
