Sony yanks latest PS3 firmware

Sony has had to pull its firmware 2.40 upgrade for the PS3 less than an hour after release after complaints that it was turning the consoles into expensive bricks.

Complaints flooded in after people complained of multiple problems with the upgrade. The most dramatic was that the console seemed to get itself stuck while booting.

The problem could be cured by formatting the hard drive, but that isn't for the faint-hearted.

Sony claims that the faulty upgrade only hurt a small number of users.
