Sony's 2002 DVD players are high end but priced low.

If you are looking for a DVD player that isn't really expensive but still offers good quality and nice features then you should certainly read this article on Popularmechanics. It gives more details on the latest DVD players from Sony.

Sony's new line of DVD players promises something different--high-end video and audio capabilities at the low end of the price spectrum.

The company's flagship DVP-NS755V model is a progressive-scan DVD player offering superior video quality. In addition, this device gives you multichannel Super Audio CD (SACD) playback. SACD, the high-resolution audio format Sony co-developed with Philips, is currently in competition with DVD-Audio as the possible successor to the CD.

Another fine feature on this player is the new DVD Resume Memory function. With it, you can stop a DVD anywhere, come back to it later, and the player will pick up exactly where it left off, even if you take the disc out of the machine. A neat little trick, much appreciated by those of us with busy lifestyles. Also included in this device are CD, MP3 and CD-R/RW playback--features found on all the DVD players in Sony's 2002 lineup. You get all of these high-quality video and audio playback capabilities for about $300. Sounds like a deal to us. The DVP-NS755V will be available in June.

The most stylish member of this group of affordable performers is the DVP-PQ1 Psyc. A compact package with a sleek silver chassis, this player can be personalized by the user with removable faceplates that are available in a variety of designs. Customizable and portable, the Psyc DVD player will also be available in June for $150.

Besides the DVD players, Sony also has it's DVD writer that writes both DVD plus and DVD minus. It seems that Sony is ready for the Christmas season. Discuss DVD players and writers in our DVD forum here.
