heystoopid used our news submit to tell us: "Whilst browsing Boing Boing, I came across a small article about the unpaid artists royalty list, maintained by the RIAA and it"s assorted associate minions. Curiously whilst RIAA, was thumping it"s chest "King Kong" style about all the alledged huge costs associated illegal music downloading from "the internet" is shorting all recording artists of their royalties, and also despite SONY N.Y. being fined millions of $$$"s by "Eliot Spitzer"s heavy mob!" in New York State for the same offence, they have been quietly outside the public eye, missappropriating funds paid into a royalty fund disbursement account!
Old habits at the majors seem to live on unabated, in spite of crocodile promises to change even under duress! All the majors including on subsidiary of sorts, as per the above example, actually now publish lists of unpaid royalty payments, to all recording artists! These list given volume sales public broadcasts and karaoke machines worldwide must now exceed hundreds of millions of dollars in total, a non trivial sum by any means! Boing Boing, has links to the RIAA majors like EMI, SONY, UNIVERSAL MUSIC and CMRRA etc. Still no mention of what has happening to the funds raised by RIAA legal action team law suits, from those that have paid up, perhaps one day some one will spill the beans or the lawyers will be forced to confess under the "court pretrial discovery deposition rules" at a future case?
Oh well, what does the future hold, for recording artists, if their own major RIAA label is far too lazy, to forward that ever elusive royalty payment?"

Not to mention major indie artists like: Pizzicato Five And they can't find Public Image Ltd, despite the fact that they found Johnny Rotten's "other band," the Sex Pistols? They can't seem to find "Neko Case & Her Boyfriends", despite the fact that they seem to have found Neko Case? |
