Star-force releases copy protection review - see what's going on

gene_simmons used our newssubmit to tell us that Star-Force has proved again it's serious in proving they are the best copy protection currently available. The protection that is known to be one of best and strongest protections against unauthorized copying is not widely used, but has been implemented in several CD games and recently also in a DVD game.

The Star-Force company is now publishing a copy protection review on their website that should be updated every month. It is more a commercial for the protection, but contains also some information about the companies competitors, mind that the information below is about illegal cracks:

Here are some results of copy protection effectiveness:

  • SafeDisc 2: Out of six games listed in the table one («Hearts of Iron») stayed uncracked during two days after the official release. The other five were cracked before they

    even came out.
  • C-Dilla 2.x: Four games were protected by this system. "Lego Creator: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" made it thorough three days. 'Medal of Honor: Spearhead" was cracked a bit earlier.

SecuROM: 'WhiteOut", 'Test Drive", 'Silent Hill 2" were released uncracked. 'Silent Hill 2" was available in its

original release for record three days.

Serial: 'Sail Simulator 4.2" is the absolute champion; the pirate version was available on the Net in ten days

    after the official release.

The latest SecuROM took a while before it was possible to bypass in order to make a personal backup. But thanks to blackcheck from our forum who released Twinpeak also this protection became copyable. More information can be found here.
