Super Talent launches affordable SSDs

As flash prices continue to fall with significantly cheaper flash memory cards in the shops in recent months, it is finally time for flash based SSDs to make a significant drop in price also.  Today, Super Talent has launched its MasterDrive LX SSD series, available in capacities of 64GB and 128GB, which are expected to retail for US$179 and under US$300 respectively.  According to Gizmodo, this makes the 128GB model $150 than a similar model by Dell.

Despite the lower pricing, both SSDs feature sequential read and write speeds of 100MB/s and 40MB/s, which are significantly quicker than low end SSDs, such as some SSD express cards.  They are directly interchangeable with traditional 2.5" hard disks and connect by an SATA 3Gbps interface.  Both drives feature ECC, wear levelling and bad bit management to improve the reliability and lifespan of the drives.

Both drives will go on sale this week and will be backed by a 1-year warranty.
