AVWatch reports that the Japanese company Taiyo Yuden will release a
special audio CD-R by it's brand name That's. The company is in a joint venture
with Sony which is called Start Lab.Taiyo Yuden is known
for it's high quality discs and this new CD-R Selection Gold Disc should keep up
this image. The CD-Rs are manufactured with a high accuracy stamper which is
currently mainly used for professional high-end media.
The company
also utilizes Hyper Injection Mold (HIM) which raises the precision of the
molding system for the best recording surface. To protect the data the CD-R's
have a ceramic coating. The CD-Rs are using the super cyanine II dye for optimal
recording stability. The CD-R's are currently only available in Japan in a 74
minutes or 80 minutes packages. 5 pieces are expected to cost about 1,000 Yen
which is about 8 EURO's.
