According to a news published at Tech-On, TDK Corp has announced that its two new 4th-generation LTO Ultrium 4 data cartridges are the first to have passed certification testing by the compliance verification entity (CVE), the organization responsible for LTO standardization.
Two models are available, both of which provide 800GB capacity (1.6TB with 2:1 compression):
- the rewritable D2407-LTO4
- the recordable D2407W-LTO4 (Write Once Read Many type)
On a press release, TDK announced that the two LTO Ultrium 4 data cartridges will be available in May 2007.
Main usage of these cartridges is for server backup.
