hjs used our newssubmit to tell us that our friend Ian from CDRLabs.com has another review ready: The TEAC CD-W540E 40/12/48 CD-RW.
In the review they took a look at the drive's features and putted it against the 40x writers from Plextor, Lite-On and Benq. They are really optimistic about this drive saying it is one of the most impressive writers they have seen. Some highs and lows:
- One of the fastest writers available.
- Supports new CD-MRW (Mount Rainier) format.
- Very good data transfer speeds with all types of media.Â
- Features Sanyo's BURN-Proof buffer underrun protection.
- The drive has an 8MB buffer.Â
- Pretty good media compatibility.Â
- Features TEAC's Fine Focus Control, Running OPC and Intelligent Speed
Control technologies to ensure
writing quality. - Rewrites at 12x.
- Good DAE speeds.Â
- Very low seek times. The lowest seek times we've seen!
- Supports UDMA 33.
- Has a large selection of writing speeds between 40x and 4x.
Lows:
- Slowest 40x writer we've tested when it comes to DAE.
- Loud when reading and writing.
- Cannot rewrite at 12x with all high speed CD-RW media.
Not going to reveal the entire review, go and read it for yourself at cdrlabs.
This 40x drive is also currently in our testing labs so we hope to have a review available soon!
