TEAC CD-W552E (52/24/52) review @ CDRLabs.com

Our friends from
CDRLabs.com have posted their latest review of the TEAC CD-W552E drive. As the model
number suggests the CD-W552E drive supports 52x write and read speeds, while
re-writing is done at a maximum speed of 24x:

After
being impressed with the performance and features of TEAC's 40x writer, I
went into this review expecting the same from the CD-W552E. What I found
was a drive very different from the CD-W540E. With its MediaTek chipset,
the CD-W552E actually has more in common with the ASUS CRW-5224A than any
of TEAC's other writers.

The CD-W552E's writing performance was mixed. While
the drive had a very high average writing speed, its actual writing times
were not as fast as one might expect. In our tests the CD-W552E was able
to top MSI's 52x writer, but trailed behind the writers from Samsung and
Lite-On by a few seconds. The CD-W552E wasn't as media-friendly as some of
the other 52x writers we've tested either. Without any way to disable the
drive's write speed control technology, we had a hard time finding media
that would work at 52x.

Overall the TEAC CD-W552E gets a score of 8 out of 10. If you're
