The MPAA and RIAA warn college of file sharers

Wow this is first, the MPAA and RIAA warning people before they sue them! Looks like they are trying to give students a chance before suing them for all they have. As all of us were or are students, I think we know that is not much.

The battle over file sharing on campus networks continues to rage, as the Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture Association of America have sent letters expressing concern about illegal file sharing to College President James Wright.

The letters, received mid-April, do not signal a new wave of lawsuits, but contained internet protocol addresses of 21 network users suspected of illegal file sharing, and requested that users cease such activity.

This a side of the MPAA and the RIAA I for one would like to see alot more of! Suing students because they are easy to find 'infringing copyright laws' is not they way of stopping Internet piracy. With all the money the MPAA and the RIAA claim back off the people they sue, you would think they could put some of that back into offering more ways to get legal (and better) music and movies? You can read the full story here. Also you can discus anything to with the MPAA or the RIAA in the Music Download, Peer to Peer (P2P) & Legal Issues forum.
