The giFT is a new, freeware filesharing program without the ad- and spyware built-in to it. We have reported about this new tool several times now and in fact the first Windows based program using giFT has already been released as reported here, called The Qube.
Unfortunately there were some problems with it because giFT wasn't prepared for the massive amount of connections yet. The developers decided to take action against The Qube and it seems it worked. Thanks goes to Smash for sending us this news!
New version of The Qube |
Notice: Due to legal concerns, giFT has been removed from The Qube as of Beta 11.5. The installer for this new beta will remove gIFT support for The Qube from the user's computer automatically without causing any damage to other software on your system. People are advised to upgrade to 11.5 so that further problems do not occur. gIFT support for The Qube was not directed to harm the OpenFT network and was completely unintentional. giFT will hopefully return in later versions of The Qube.
Let's indeed hope that giFT support will be re-added in the future. I think giFT could be the next big thing... You can download this new version of The Qube from www.getqube.com. The homepage of giFT can be found on gift.sourceforge.net.
