UK DVDs 'a rip-off' - European customers pay more, get less

The British newspaper reports that DVDs in the UK and Europe are overpriced and are less quality then the same US titles. Besides that almost every DVD that is released in the UK or Europe is already out for a decent time in the United States.

Studios hike prices for European DVD releases by around £5 a disc. Picture and sound quality are sacrificed on movies for Europe to accommodate 10 language options. Discs can only contain a certain amount of information.

And US film fans often get blockbuster films months before they are released in the UK. Most British DVD players have to be adapted for US discs. Now experts at What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision magazine are urging Hollywood to remove the regional codes.

And this is nothing but the truth. How to explain European customers that they pay more and get less?
