Our forum administrator Kerry56 has posted a review in which he compares the only three applications that are currently able to make backups of Cinavia protected movies. All of them allow users to end up with a movie that doesn't trigger the Cinavia detector anymore.
In his review he compares CloneBD and AnyDVD HD, CinEx HD and DVDFab Cinavia Removal HD on price, audio quality and ease of use. The tested movies were Kick-Ass 2 and Pitch Perfect 2. Both are known to be protected by Cinavia and also PowerDVD 13 and DVD-Ranger's free tool, CinDe, confirmed the movies are protected by the audio watermarking technology developed by Verance.
When the Cinavia detector in the movie playback hardware/software detects the user is playing a copy of the movie, it will mute the audio after a certain time. Kerry56 tested the resulting files in PowerDVD 13 after the Cinavia removal software did its job and found the detectors no longer detected the copy, thus the software was successful.
