Microsoft came with the announcement that they've outsold Sony's Playstation 3 last March, but forgot to say that Nintendo's Wii was the absolute winner. One game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, helped Wii sales to be extremely high, concludes a NDP report. "Across hardware, software and accessories Wii sales represent 31% of the industry's dollars," says analyst Anita Frazier.
In March Nintendo sold a total of 720,000 consoles, this is more than the combined sales of the Playstation 3 and the Xbox. All the consoles have a great growth potential though, since all have significantly grown since last March 2007 and all sales are still increasing it in 2008. The only console that didn't enjoy an increase was the PS2, which was expected since the next-gen consoles are becoming better and cheaper by the year.
It seems that both Sony and Microsoft are mainly focussing on competing with each other, but the only console they have to worry about is the Wii. Will the Xbox and PS3 win in the long run or will Nintendo keep its top position?
