Windows 10's market share continues to grow and the operating system is currently the second most used Windows version after Windows 7. Numbers from Netmarketshare show that Windows 10 currently holds a worldwide market share of 12.8%.
The difference with Windows 7 is still large, the operating system is actually two versions older but still holds a market share of 52.34%. Windows XP, for which Microsoft no longer releases security updates is still on 11.24% of the computers worldwide.
Windows 8.1, the successor of Windows 7, was never liked by much users but is still on 9.83% of the computers measured by Netmarketshare.
Because Windows 10 is free in the first year for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users, and because Microsoft's campaigns to convince users to upgrade to Windows 10 become more aggressive, the market share of the OS will likely grow even faster the coming time.
Especially because Microsoft now offers Windows 10 as a 'Recommended Update' which means it's pretty hard to get around.
