Windows 10 lost marketshare to Windows 7 again, according to numbers reported by NetMarketShare. While Microsoft's latest OS grew with nearly 1% in January, it dropped with 0.11% in February.
The marketshare of Windows 10 dropped from 25.30% to 25.19%. Obviously that isn't a dramatic drop, but it shows that the adaption of Windows 10 has stagnated. Windows 7's market share, on the other hand, showed an increase of 1.21%. In total 48.41% of all computers runs on Windows 10's predecessor, making clear the OS isn't going anywhere the coming time.
XP's market share also dropped slightly, from 9.17% to 8.45%, a decrease of 0.72%.
The numbers indicate that Microsoft no longer succeeds in convincing users to switch from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The growth of the OS has stagnated ever since the Microsoft free upgrade offer expired in July 2016. Since then the OS saw a growth of only 4%.
The company used aggressive methods to convince Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to use it's free upgrade offer. It will taken even more to get all those Windows 7 users to Windows 10 now they even have to pay for it.
