World's first DVD Dual Layer burner for laptops

On the German site CHIP Online, we spotted a small article about the world's first Dual Layer DVD burner for laptops. (We reported this news back in June and can be found here).

The drive is made by NEC and they claim to be the first company to manufacture such an 8x DVD DL burner in slim line-design. The ND-6500 is only 190 grams and is a major upgrade for a Laptop.

With NEC's own developed High-Resolution-Writing-Strategy and the 2 MB large buffer, the burner should manage an optimal write strategy/quality on all media.

Supported operation systems are:

'¢ Windows 98 SE
'¢ Windows 2000
'¢ Windows ME
'¢ Windows XP

Bundled software, price and availability are at this time not confirmed.

Media type, Write and Read.
