Xbox 360 HD DVD drive announced @Xbox.com

According to Xbox.com, it looks like the new external HD DVD drive is going to debut at $199 dollars US. Not only that, the drive will initially come with a HD DVD movie (King Kong) and also the Xbox media remote, to help get things rolling. The movie and remote bundle makes this a very tempting offer. The remote alone is 30 bucks, if purchased separately later.

It also looks like a very nice remote and it appears to have an integral trackball. (oops, it apparently is a logo for Xbox, not a trackball-my bad) I also see a pretty green button, near the bottom third of the remote. On the information page for the remote, we can read this: Windows® XP Media Center Edition Button and Media Center Edition functionality are included.

I wonder how an HD DVD movie looks in 720p or 1080i in comparison to an upscaled DVD?
