Former Nero founders start software for Automotive

Cinemo_LogoThe people behind the popular burning engine Nero, are doing it again. The two successful technology entrepreneurs have started a company called Cinemo, which develops Intel Atom based embedded software that can be integrated into a wide variety of consumer electronics devices, automotive / in-vehicle infotainment systems and media phones.

This weekend they announced their first big customer. The Cinemo media engine will be included in the next generation of in-car infotainment systems from Harman Becker, the Harman International Automotive Division. This company designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of audio and infotainment products.

With this step you can expect Cinemo to be included in the next generation Mercedes and BMW's. Traditionally, Car Media systems are not that great, so this new combination could be a real winner. All the things you can do on your computer or smartphone, like navigation, voice control, Internet, Email, MP3, TV, DVD, etc will now be integrated in future cars as well. Wouldn't that be great?
