A new deal recently announced indicates students will be able to purchase Microsoft Windows 7 for just $29.99, though students should act fast, as the offer will end in early January.
"For a limited time, eligible college students can get the sweetest deal on Windows 7 -- for only $29.99 USD. That's less than most of your textbooks! Hurry -- offer ends January 3, 2010 at 12:00 a.m. CST," according to a post on www.win741.com.
Students are able to purchase a single copy of Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional while the promotion is still in place.
"This offer is specifically designed for those students who are noot planning to purchase a new PC this year but would still like to take advantage of what Windows 7 offers," Microsoft told CNET.
Students now have the ability to pay $30 and download the OS when it begins to ship on Oct. 22.
Microsoft will offer similar programs in Canada, Mexico, Korea, Australia, France and Germany, with other nations possibly receiving the program as well.
I think this is an extremely good idea by Microsoft, especially since there are university students wanting to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7, but may not have the money to do so. Furthermore, Microsoft is doing its best to try and get PC users to forget about Windows Vista, which has led some bloggers to say the $30 upgrade offering should be available to everyone.
