Mozilla's Firefox 11 browser is available now, boasting new sync options

Slightly delayed after a security vulnerability was uncovered last week, Firefox 11 is now available for all web users.

The new iteration improves mobile web browsing and features a new migration option for consumers who're making the switch from Google Chrome. Add-On Sync also debuts, allowing users to share downloaded add-ons between their home and work computers.

Several more tweaks should please web developers. According to the Firefox 11 Release Notes, devs now have access to the CSS Style Editor, an unprefixed Websockets and HTML parsing.

Mozilla (as usual) addressed myriad bugs and glitches, including a major vulnerability found by security researchers Willem Pinckaers and Vincenzo Iozzowhich last week. The delay could have been longer due to a perfect storm of bad timing.

"The security bug reported by ZDI is one we had already identified and fixed through our internal processes," explained Johnathan Nightingale, senior director of Firefox engineering, at the Mozilla blog. "However, in order to understand the impacts of Microsoft's 'Patch Tuesday' fixes, we will initially release Firefox for manual updates only. Once those impacts are understood, we'll push automatic updates out to all of our users."
