Sonic Solutions recently released the Sonic BD PowerStation program, which is a Blu-ray Disc production suite aimed at experienced video makers.
"BD PowerStation is another example of Sonic's unprecedented tradition of constant development and investment in the growth of the professional content production and delivery industry," said Rolf Hartley, Sonic Premium Content Applications group VP, in a statement. "We've combined our expertise in video encoding, authoring and playback with our clear understanding of 'what's important' to content owners, videographers and producers and delivered an amazing new suite to jump-start their BD title production."
The production suite costs $2,499, a price point that puts it on the same level as similar software suites used by filmmakers.
The company hopes its product launch will give video editors another viable tool to create high-def content. The BD PowerStation is designed for videographers, video producers and independent movie makers.
Sonic will show off the BD PowerStation suit during several tech conferences in the next few months -- helping convince consumers to make the $2,499 investment.
I'm not sure if any of you will use the software suite, but if so, please let me know what you think of it. I don't have the skills necessary to justify such an expensive purchase, but am very curious to hear how it operates.
