Some external CD/DVD writers are connected to the PC with FireWire. Just like USB, Firewire is another standardized connection type. Somewhat less commonly found than USB, Firewire connections are mostly found on computers and on data-intensive devices like hard drives and camcorders. In practice, transfer speeds between USB2.0 and Firewire don’t really differ that much.
